Steven is basically everything the books say a cattle dog is like - super friendly and affectionate, sweet, and is happiest when around people, with a high drive to keep his surroundings organized. His appetite is fantastic, and he is absolutely brilliant - highly responsive. He LOVES other dogs, and wants to play with them all the time. His house manners are great - he is now 100% housebroken and sleeping well throughout the night out of the crate. . He will make a great family pet and will thrive most with a fairly active family. His herding instinct is very strong. He becomes a little stressed when he senses chaos or disorder. If his toys are scattered throughout the house, he will collect them one by one and gather them in one spot (its quite nice actually, he cleans up after himself), and if people or other dogs are moving around erratically he does attempt to take control of the direction they are headed in. He isnt rough about it at all, but a family with small children may have to exercise caution as he could very easily trip a young child in an attempt to herd them. He does very well in the crate, and we have left him several times for multiple hours with no problems at all. He doesnt like to be left behind, but only barks for a little and calms quickly. If there is a Peanut Butter kong involved he willingly goes into his crate and is absolutely fine. He is extremely food driven and will pretty much do anything for a snack. He also seems to be a great running companion. Has just started with the training with his foster mom. Note: Our rescue requires that all adopter's current and prior animals are up-to-date on vaccinations and preventatives, unless there is a medical reason not allowing it. All animals in your household should be spayed or neutered, unless medically indicated that they should not be, or are currently still too young.
